This assignment is similar to a scientific laboratory report. You should utilize nutritional science to analyze and explain your data and findings from completing the food recall project. You will use both data from your calculation worksheets and scientific references (peer-reviewed articles or your textbook) to support any statements made in the analysis. You must cite any external references used. You should write this analysis as if you are a dietitian writing about a client/patient. Again, make sure you use nutritional science to explain your thoughts and statements. Because this is a comprehensive analysis where you get to illustrate the knowledge you have learned in this course, you should plan on writing at least 3 double-spaced pages worth of material (at absolute minimum).
The analysis should include the following sections:
• First Section (multiple paragraphs): Identification of current energy needs and BMI.
o Things to discuss:
 Damien’s BMR, EER, activity level, and BMI.
 Factors that affect/influence BMR, EER, and BMI
 Damien’s body weight classification according to his BMI
 You should also describe what these metrics are, how they are calculated, and the accuracy of these metrics.
 Incorporate all information from the anthropometric assessment.
*Please note: When agreeing or disagreeing with energy requirement and or BMI, you must use nutritional science to support your opinion. Please beware of using clichés like, “big is beautiful” or statements like “I believe.” This is a nutrition and dietetics class and thus your opinions must be supported by science. • Second Section (multiple paragraphs): Explain Damien’s current dietary practices
o Things to discuss:
 Whether or not Damien’s current practices address his energy, macronutrient, and micronutrient needs.
 Be sure you address his fiber intake and sodium intakes as well.
 Use your data to support your thoughts. You should be listing and discussing what percentage of the standards were met and what those numbers indicate about health.
 Describe how Damien could address any excesses or deficiencies in energy, macronutrient, vegetable, fruit and fiber intake. You need to be specific!
 If Damien’s current dietary practices perfectly address his needs in these areas, explain how the goals were achieved.
 If Damien was underweight or overweight, identify how he could increase or decrease energy intake to get his BMI within the healthy range.

• Fourth Section (multiple paragraphs): What does Damien’s family health history indicate about Damien?
o Things to discuss:
 Any heredity information you learned from completing Damien’s Family Health Diagram
 Are there any relationships between Damien’s family health history and his current dietary practices?
 Do you have any suggestions for Damien based off of his family health history?

• Fifth Section (multiple paragraphs): How does Damien’s environmental assessment relate to his healthfulness?
o Things to discuss:
 Are there any things from Damien’s environmental assessment that may have an influence on his health?
 Is there anything from his environmental assessment that may influence his access to nutrient rich foods?

• Last Section: This is your conclusion. Briefly summarize the major points from the previous sections. Remember, you are a dietitian writing this analysis about Damien, so you will want to review/summarize any information you as Damien’s dietitian really want him to know.

• Works Cited: Include a works cited page for any references cited in the body of your analysis. You must also include citations in the body of the analysis.

• Remember, all statements must be based in science and lacking in judgement. Dietitians want to help others, not make judgements about them.
