1. The paper must be typed using Times New Roman 12 point font and double-spaced following MLA formatting for essays (Links to an external site.).
2. Do NOT include a title.
3. Place your name, date, and course and section numbers in the top of the first page following MLA format (Links to an external site.).
4. Make sure to save your paper with the following file name:
[your last name] Paper 2.
Example: Bohorquez Paper 2.
5. You must submit your paper in a format that is compatible with Microsoft Word. If I have difficulty reading your paper because of the format in which it was submitted, I will consider your paper as not submitted. Though pdf files are compatible with MS Word, the conversion process makes the files very difficult to read. Please do NOT submit your paper as a pdf.
6. Submit this as an attachment to Eagle Online. I will not accept hard copies or e-mail submissions of your paper. Make sure that you know how to and can submit to Eagle Online before the deadline.
7. When referring to texts please use parenthetical citations in MLA format. Right-click on the link for MLA format info: MLA format (Links to an external site.).
8. You must also have at least 2 relevant and explanatory direct quotes (not paraphrases) from the primary text with which we have worked.
9. This paper is not intended to be a research paper. Use only the information given in the assigned texts and in the class recordings. Do not use outside research. The objective of this paper is to assess how well you’ve understood the assigned text(s) and how well you can apply the text(s) to a specific case. My expectations are that you will demonstrate an earnest engagement with the topic of the assignment. Use of outside sources MAY result in a lower grade.
10. Make sure to dedicate attention to defining all terms. Do not cite dictionaries when providing definitions. Use your own words to explain the key terms of the topic.

Consider the following situation: healthy children in areas with poor sanitation, poor to non-existent healthcare infrastructure, lack of access to clear water, etc., when given antibiotics have mortality reduced by between 14% to almost 18%. Unfortunately, there is concern that providing antibiotics to healthy people may (most likely will) lead to increased antibiotic resistance in the future. Explain how Kant would use the categorical imperative to determine how to behave in this situation.
