The assessment questions are divided into four parts:
1. Describe the overall pathophysiological changes that occur in the type of diabetes that your invention will be aimed at.
2. Devise your new invention and describe it. Clearly explain what it will target and justify why this is a good area to target.
3. Perform a literature search to determine the gold standard interventions/treatment/practice currently used for this problem or type of diabetes. Concisely describe how you conducted the literature search (search engine, key terms, limits etc.). Briefly describe 2 key papers you have found on this subject. Discuss the difficulties of comparing data between the studies that you have found.
4. Imagine you are a health care professional who is treating someone with this condition. Your invention is being used in a pilot study and your patient is interested in participating in the study. What quality of life concerns might lead them to participate in the study? What communication skills might you use during this conversation?
