in the U.S. media we hear quite a lot about Mexican immigrants though most current immigrants are coming from other Latin American countries.Most reports talk about the pull factors — conditions in the United States that Latin American immigrants find attractive. We hear far less about the “push” factors — conditions in Mexico that make leaving an attractive choice for many Mexican citizens.
In the short essay you are about to write, I want you to consider the push factors focusing on Mexico and not other Latin countries. In the U.S. Media one question is why doesn’t Mexico fix its problems? Many of these problems will be economic and I do want you mention these, but I want you to concentrate on the political side of the question. What political conditions do Mexicans find unattractive? Why hasn’t or why can’t the Mexican government stem the flow? What political conditions do typical Mexicans face in their daily lives?
