Your Final Exam is centered on Christopher Nolan′s film Inception. The film focuses on the question of so-called reality versus ″dream″ states but explored in unusual ways to help you think about the substance of both reality and dreams. How do they intersect? Why does a dream at times seem more real than reality or even more: a hyper reality? Your FINAL EXAM assignment is to do the following: Explore how the film Inception shows or illustrates dream states versus reality by using the camera, the actors, the mis en scene, lighting etc. What specific things does the cinematographer and/or director and other artists making this film do to make you think one scene is a dream state but another scene is not? Remember to think about ALL your senses: sight, sound, intellect, imagination, words spoken etc NOTE: You must do outside research for this essay by finding two or more essays from different valid film sources (i.e. magazines, reviews, essays) that either agree/disagree with your ideas and incorporate other writers′ ideas and POV into your essay, especially if you disagree with them to some extent. Purpose of Essay: To demonstrate you can critically think about a film as abstract as this one by researching what others have to say about it, incorporating other people′s ideas correctly into your essay, defend your insights and position and show depth and thinking ability to correctly integrate film terms
