Write a review of the piece whose first performance will be given in this course.
In your review, you should make an argument that focuses on one or several of the following issues:
what the premiere and/or piece accomplished, meant, sounded;
how the premiere affected the audience; what the future might hold for the piece;
or any other contentious issue you choose to address.
In support of your argument, be sure to include plenty of musical details – which will be the primary form of evidence you should use – as well as relevant details of the performance per the conventions of the review genre.
In making your argument, use any information available to you, and use your own judgment, which will itself become information for future readers of your review. You might wish to interview other spectators for their opinions and observations.
