Participants will participate in a study group, a small group charged with reading and investigating a theorist/subject of mutual interest to the objectives of the course. Each group will design and conduct a sharing session for the rest of the class. The subject of study will be the additional student-selected optional required text for the course –discussion sessions will relate the reading to an applied practice program area. Group work will revolve around questions generated from the reading and utilization in individual practice.(Examples: application of facilitating principles to specific populations -ABE, literacy, ESL, health professions, continuing education, staff development in the corporate setting, management training, and/or delving further into a particular learning theory, etc.). Each study group will post their collective questions generated for discussion on the course website forum after each book group session. Participants in the class will have the opportunity of following dialogue within and across book study groups. Groups will present their findings using methods they select: panel discussion, exercise, lecture, roundtable, video, etc. Groups should as well present key points and an overview of the reading (this would preferably be in a PowerPoint handout and/or presentation). Written report of this activity will involve a 2 page addendum to the journal
