ANALYZING AND REWRITING FAIRYTALE/STORY – Your task is to revisit a popular fairytale or story from your childhood and examine the gendered messages throughout. Similar to Option #2, analyze the characters and role behaviors of the characters. Are the female and male characters in gendered roles? How is the ‘moral’ of the story gendered? Once you have completed a short gender analysis of the story, rewrite the story so that it is more gender neutral and/or empowering. Be as creative as you would like and feel free to write an entirely new story if you would like.
