Write a persuasive essay in which you express a deeply felt opinion about an ethical issue. Your goal is to have readers consider your opinion about your subject or your proposal for it. For example, you could write about whether or not the death penalty should be banned in the United States. You could write about whether or not the U.S should adopt a single-payer Medicare-for-All health care policy. You will be graded on how well your present your argument.
Your thesis statement should clearly state your central claim, the main point of your argument.
The Bedford Reader includes a sidebar entitled “How to Organize an Argument” on page 502, which shows how to incorporate four key aspects of an argument and persuasion essay, including the Introduction, Body, Response to Objections, and Conclusion.
