1) a descriptive title (for example, Women and African Americans in 19th Century Social Reform Movements); 2) an introduction that clearly states your central research question; 3) an explanation of how and why you decided to explore this particular topic; 4) a tentative hypothesis of what you expect to find; and 5) a plan for how you will conduct your research.
