For this assignment, you will move from researching and analyzing your topic, as you did in WP 3/Research Essay, to presenting those same findings in a new genre to communicate your findings to a targeted audience. You will use your previous research to inform your creative strategy and help you make the rhetorical choices necessary to create an effective transfer of your ideas. The new genre is up to you to decide upon, based on your analysis of the rhetorical situation and the way in which you respond to it.
In this assignment, you will do the following:
1) Strategically target a specific audience (preferably a different audience than WP 3, but it’s not a requirement)
2) Develop key messages to communicate to that audience—based on the knowledge you gained from developing the research essay
3) Present information in a new genre designed to communicate those messages to your audience.
4) Write a rationale to communicate the connections between the new genre and your strategies for choosing it
5) Write a reflection that will consider the effect of these choices on your audience.
