Instructions: Exam 2 consists of 3 multi-part exam questions. For each exam question you should respond with an essay that addresses all parts of the question, integrates (via paraphrasing) and cites material from the course (e.g., assigned readings, videos), and is no shorter than 500 words in length. Descriiption of Data for Questions 1 & 2 — see attached Excel file labeled ‘m7330_ex2_data.xlxs’. A spreadsheet was developed from various sources (i.e., HRIS system, survey database) to assess the business questions. Columns in this spreadsheet are described below:
– Sex: 1 = Male; 2 = Female
– Tenure: Years employed at company
– Overall Performance = 7-point rating scale ranging from highly unfavorable (1) to highly favorable (7), 1 item.
– Work Motivation = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., I am willing to engage in any performance improvement activity), average of 9 items
– Job Satisfaction = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., Overall, I am satisfied with my job), average of 4 items
– Procedural Fairness = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., Performance management procedures were applied consistently.), average of 7 items
– Distributive Fairness = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., My overall performance rating was justified, given my performance), average of 4 items
– Interpersonal Fairness = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., I was treated with respect during the performance management process), average of 4 items
– Informational Fairness = 6-point scale from strong disagree (1) to strong agree (6) (e.g., Details of the performance management process were communicated in a timely manner), average of 5 items
Exam Question 1
A new performance management system was introduced in a customer-service organization, and they have gathered data to evaluate how receiving performance feedback via this new system is related to work motivation. They are also interested in how employees perceived the fairness of the new performance management process. Data from performance reviews (i.e., supervisor’s overall performance rating) and a survey (i.e., work motivation, perceptions of fairness of performance management system) completed by employees 1 month after receiving performance feedback from their supervisor.

Exam Question 2
The organization places a high value on diversity and inclusion and has heard that there is concern about bias against women in performance management processes. They would like to understand whether this type of bias is evident in the overall ratings of performance included in the data attached. Furthermore, they would like to know whether there are differences in job tenure and job satisfaction between their male and female employees.
A. Develop the business questions and hypotheses that are relevant to this scenario at the beginning of your response.

Exam Question 3
Describe your ‘dream’ workforce analytics project. It should be a project that is relevant to an organization’s strategy and would require the integration of organizational data to generate meaningful insights. You should use and cite assigned readings from the course and can also use an organization you are familiar with to provide context for your descriiption of this “dream” project. Your response should also address each element of the Eight Step Model for Purposeful Analytics described in your textbook and summarized in Figure 4.1.
