The Pandemic, Then and Now: We read some sources on the plague in Italy and beyond in the 1300’s, including The Decameron. What do these sources tell us about how people experienced the plague? How did they understand the causes of it? What were different ways in which they tried to prevent it from spreading? How did the plague change society and impact different social classes? For each of these questions, you should also consider comparable circumstances in how society dealt with the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
