Respond to Kafka on the Shore in either of two ways
1) In writing, for 1000-1500 words. This can be analytical writing, poetry, a short story, lyrics, or something else altogether, as long as it’s original and demonstrates your engagement with the writers in question. Include a reflection of at least 200 words in which you tell me what you’re trying to do in the piece and how well you think you’ve done it.
Or:
2) Respond to the readings in some way other than writing: painting, sculpture, music, dance, etc. If you choose this option, make your reflection an “artist’s statement” of at least 600 words in which you make specific connections between the novel and your project. Think of this statement as an integral part of the work–something that would go on the wall of a museum beside it or in the CD’s liner notes. Include a reflection of at least 200 words about what you tried to do and how well you think you’ve done it.
