In a higher education environment, classes consist of adult learners who expect to be treated with respect by their instructor and peers. It is important for instructors in higher education to be able to effectively communicate and be able to diffuse potentially difficult situations.
Create a 3-5 minute video for your students that outlines how you plan to communicate effectively. Refer to the “Recording, Editing and Uploading a Video or Podcast Guide” to help you become familiar with how to create a video.
Your scriipt and video should include the following:
Brief introduction stating your name, the content area you teach, and your background (ALREADY DONE… SEE UPLOADED DOCUMENT).
Summary of the purpose and content of the video (3RD PARAGRAPH THAT BEGINS WITH A BILL GATES QUOTE)
At least three strategies you will implement to foster effective communication with adult learners
Challenges to communication in higher education and how you could overcome these challenges
At least two strategies for de-escalating interpersonal conflict when a disagreement occurs between the instructor and students and between students in the classroom
How effective communication supports student success and creates a positive classroom environment
