Select a local community agency that serves the healthcare or developmental needs of your assigned age group. For example: WIC (Women, Infants, and children); Headstart; DPH, etc. Some examples are provided on the acceptable website document. Please select an agency that people can access locally.
AGE GROUP FOR ASSIGNMENT: Toddlerhood
Address all of the following in your paper
Name of agency and location (city or town)
What are the goals or mission of this agency? How are they doing in meeting those goals? What services do they provide?
Who do they serve? What are the benefits to that population/age group?
How are they financed (i.e. government funds, private, 3rd party payers)? What is the cost to individuals using their services?
What would a nurse’s role be within the agency? (If there are no nurses employed there, discuss what contributions a nurse could make in that agency)
Objectives:
Identify local resources that meet the healthcare or developmental needs of the population
Describe the goals of the selected agency, and how are they doing in meeting these goals?
Outline the financial/reimbursement guidelines for the agency
Explore the role of the nurse in meeting the needs of patient/clients in the community
