(i). We have studied a slew of different investigative methods this semester. Among them, formal experimentation is considered to be the crown jewel of investigative methods. Why is this so? Discuss, exhaustively, how formal experimentation critically differs from other investigative measures like correlations and/or case studies.
(ii.) Describe in detail a factorial design of your own. Provide a plot of simulated data and describe the main effect(s) and interaction present. In particular, you must make it clear that you understand what an “interaction” implies about your data.
You will need to upload a snapshot of your written response and simulated data plot for this question.
(iii.) This semester we have discussed issues regarding research ethics. Discuss why and how ABAB designs present a potential violation of research ethics.
(iv). What does it mean to suggest that developmental studies are confounded? Provide an an example for a longitudinal study. Provide an example for a cross-sectional)?
(v). Describe an example of your own of an experiment incorporating a balanced placebo design. (Note: It is not enough to simply use the in-lecture example looking at the expectancy effects of alcohol by merely substituting in another psychoactive substance; that’s the same design, different psychoactive substance. This is not allowable for this exam).
