In the paper, please make sure you deal with elements of persuasion. I feel all speeches have elements of persuasion, so you can work it in. Talk about ethos, pathos and logos. Talk about initial, derived and terminal credibility. Talk about delivery as it relates to persuasion. Talk about identification. Other elements you can include are the ethics of the speech. Was the speech appropriate for the audience? What about the demographics of the audience and audience analysis? You can include the specific purpose of the speech.
What about the research? Was it done? Did the speaker know what s/he was talking about? Where did the information come from? What about the supporting ideas and material used (Examples, statistics and testimony). Did the speaker cite sources?Include information about the delivery. This should include information about vocal variety, eye contact, gestures and language used. Were metaphors or similes used? How about alliteration? Did it help the speech or make it more difficult to understand?Include information about how the speech was organized, such as topical, spatial, chronological, etc. Was the right structure picked? Why or why not? Could a different structure be picked and would that have worked?
Discuss the introduction and the conclusion. What approach was taken? Did it work? Would you have preferred a different approach? Did the introduction set up the topic? Were visual aids used? If so, how did they impact the speech? How effectively did the speaker use the aids?
