There are two questions. Both 200 words.
Q1: Please pick a company that has been involved in the RSPO and, 1) explain how it is trying to use the RSPO to accomplish “ethical sourcing” (Roberts 2003). Then, 2) pick a concrete product that company produces and explain how Crane (2001) would assess how the palm oil issue and the company’s participation in the RSPO is affecting the (positive and negative) “augmentation” of that product.
Q2 : Please look at the RSPO again, but this time as CSR effort that represents a new form of “global governance” (Levy & Kaplan 2009). Do you think the RSPO is succeeding in “democratising governance” through incorporating the active participation of civil society? Or is this essentially a “corporate capture” of regulatory authority – a “privatisation of governance”? Why?
