The following exercises provide an opportunity for you to identify personal preferences for various types of appraisals. You may wish to critique an appraisal from a system in which you are currently employed or in which you have had clinical experiences.
Activity 21-1
Design a performance appraisal process that you believe would help you grow professionally.

Meet with group to construct a performance appraisal form incorporating each of the performance criteria that have been identified. Do this on a separate piece of paper. Share the group process that has been developed with a person responsible for appraising you or someone who would. Will that person agree to use your process to assist you in growing professionally? Remember, the fact that your organization uses a particular system does not preclude the use of an additional system.
