For this paper, you are going to choose a modern work of art- something created in your lifetime. It must be a legitimate work of art created by a “real” artist for the purpose of creating art. Please run your choice by me before or after class or via email.
You are going to analyze this work of art as if you are an art historian from centuries in the future.
Address:
– the artist, their background, place in art history, motivations, etc….
– analyze the work of art- theme, content, style, etc…
– how does this work fit into the culture at the time? Is it very popular? Does it go against the standard of the time?
– how was it received when it came out?
– what does this work of art tell us about the culture it came from?
3-5 pages, 1 inch margins, 12 pt. font, double spaced
Basically, find any artist of our generation that will make an impact on the future like da Vinci did.
