1. Discuss the history of selected movement or issue thoroughly. Be sure to include the actors involved those for/against the issue and explain their respective positions. (Be sure to get to the crux of the arguments for the position of the movement/issue you choose) 2. Examine and describe three methods used by the group made possible by 1st amendment civil liberties and discuss their importance. Decide what was/may have been the most effective. 3. Find public opinion poll data regarding support for the selected movement or issue when it emerged and compare that data to current public opinion polling (Can use Pew, Gallup, Roper Center, NYT) 4. Analyze a policy outcome generated through this movement. Can be a bill/law, Supreme Court decision, or executive order. If there was not one, discuss a failed effort and determine if there have been subsequent attempts to affect any level change even potentially at a state or local level etc. 5. Reflect on the success or lack thereof of the movement. (What made it successful? Could it have been more successful? What prevented/prevents it from being successful? How else could this be pursued using American institutions (Congress, Courts, Presidency)? The course textbook, Wikipedia, internet search engines, blogs and similar items are examples of unacceptable research sources on the collegiate level. Failure to identify sources is plagiarism. Provide the full MLA or APA citation for all outside sources. All references are to be documented within the body of the assignment and on a works cited page. The formatting requirements for all assignments are : typed / word processed, double-spaced, size 12 font, Arial or Times New Roman script, 1 inch margins (default setting), and a limited number of grammatical errors.Show more
