Complete a Clinical Observation – Classroom Observation – One of the most challenging, but necessary parts of teaching is classroom management. Using the scenario provided write a clinical observation:
As you observed your teacher and classroom, what are some techniques that were implemented and how did these assist the learning process? Did you see a need for any more rules, discipline, etc. to promote learning? What are some aspects that you would ensure to include or eliminate in your classroom?
Some other areas to observe and assist with your writing assignment:
Which techniques being used are the most effective? least effective?
What teaching practices motivate these students?
Are individual interests taken into consideration in providing a supportive learning atmosphere?
How much time is actually spent “on task”?
Select one or two students and try to determine how they attribute their successes and failures.
Is the teacher using I messages or empathetic listening?
What percentage of class time is spent on the following?
self-paced/individual learning, lecture/demonstration, small cooperative groups, competitive activities or examinations, other?
