Sam has been working for ABC Company for 5 years. He is a devoted employee who receives excellent performance appraisals. He frequently goes above and beyond the requirements of his job to make a valuable contribution to the company. One day, the HR Manager requests a meeting with Sam. She says that Sam has violated the companys acceptable usage policy regarding company computers and other property. ABC Company monitors its employees use of company computers and discovered that Sam had, on his lunch breaks, been online shopping on his company computer. The HR Manager says that the penalty for violating the policy is immediate dismissal. Hence, Sam is fired and escorted from the premises.
