Select and identify one case study – provided on the module in the form of letters. The letter represents the narrative of a person living with a common occurring mental health difficulty. Choose a reflective model and apply the reflective model to structure discussion. An example of a reflective model is provided on the module. You should provide a brief rationale as to the choice of model. Using the case study, demonstrate your understanding of the needs/concerns, strengths and lived experience of the person. Demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the common mental health condition identified within the case study. Discuss the role and purpose of assessment, and identify who may be involved in the process of assessment and in sharing of information. Briefly define and detail the value of the therapeutic relationship and holistic care. Identify and briefly describe one other intervention that may support the person. Justify your choice of intervention, and evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention by referring to research/evidence-base supporting its efficacy. Apply recovery, strength-based and non-discriminatory language throughout. Discuss the common mental health condition raised within the letter, linking back to the persons own individual experience of their mental health. Provide key fundamental ideas and understandings on the mental health condition. Use literature to support your discussion. Discuss the role and purpose of assessment. Identify who may be involved in the wider assessment process for the person in the letter, and whether there may be any issues with sharing information. NOW WHAT? (recommend around 800 words) In this section you will begin to explore interventions or treatments that may be offered to the author of the letter. Define and detail the value and purpose of the therapeutic relationship and holistic care. Identify one other treatment or intervention. This must be an effective, evidence-based intervention that you believe may be helpful to the author of the letter. Provide some brief detail on what is the intervention and give a rationale for your choice. Your rationale should evaluate the efficacy of the intervention, which should be based on the best available research/evidence that you can identify. Your discussions within this section should acknowledge the importance of shared decision making, and recognise those who may be involved in care planning decisions. All sections of this reflective essay should be written using recovery, strength-based and non-discriminatory language.
