Upon completing this you need to write a 1-2 page reflection on what you watched. The point of a reflection by definition implies that you give some time to THINK on the experience of what you saw and heard and REFLECT upon it, let it simmer within you. Ask yourself, HOW did this make me feel? Am I inspired, bored, motivated, not moved at all? Ask yourself, WHY do I feel this way? What spoke to me (or didn’t)? Perhaps there is one person or event or statement that sticks out in your mind. That might speak to WHO you found of greatest interest. Furthermore, both these films are rather dated yet still relevant in many ways. In your reflection time after watching them it might be interesting to think on what still holds true today and what doesn’t as far as the music industry, the Jazz scene, etc.
In short, your reflection should NOT be a summary of the film, rather, it should be an honest and genuine expression of how the the material made you feel and what it makes you think. This is not regurgitation, it’s an honest expression of what you think and feel. As always feel free to reach out to myself or the TA’s and please reach out if you’d like to schedule office hours to discuss anything.
