Reading this article made me feel the same because most of us see people out on the streets showing their talent. I am always impressed with their talent and what they can do but at the same time, it’s not something you see every day. It could be real but at the end of the day what can we really do about it. I always stop and listen to the artist and give them money but I don’t think you have to “starve” to be an artist. Music Class PART 4: Respond to Classmates post in at least 35 words Post By: S B. My impression of this troupe is that technology and time era played a big factor in the “starving artist in the 19th century. I believe that there was more artist struggling during this era because they were introducing something new and different which took time to mold and create an audience. There was also no advertisement other than word of mouth or press. Today, there are so many platforms and versatile personalities to introduce your art. People are more open and receptive to ‘new.’ I love how the article emphasizes not to make art for money, but to make money to make more art. If your art is truly your passion, it will pay off. For some, the form of payment expected is monetary but for many. the form of payment is mental or physiological. Composers like Mozart shows how making art for money can have a negative effect. ****PART 3 and PART 4 were written to answer this questions: The Starving Artist This week, we are see the various ways that composers made a living in the 19th century. Not coincidentally, perhaps, there arose in Europe at this time the trope of the “starving artist” – the valorized idea that one must struggle for their art, or that one’s devotion to their art also required struggle.
