Spinal Cord Overview The spinal cord is a complex system of nervous tissue. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system. When the spinal cord operates correctly, it is the main pathway for information connecting the brain and the peripheral nervous system. Injuries or damage to the spinal cord result in a variety of symptoms in the body. Instructions In this discussion, you will look at the spinal cord and the central nervous system.
