1- Vygotsky stated that A single step in learning (instruction) can represent a hundred steps in development. In other words, one step in learning can lead to a hundred steps in development. This is indeed the most positive aspect of the new theory that challenges the traditional tests of intellectual assessments. The impetus for dynamic assessment theory and applications began with Vygotsky’s concept of the zone of proximal development. The zone of proximal development is offered as a dynamic alternative to the models of individual assessment ability used in conventional intellectual testing.

2- Controversies over testing procedures appear to revolve around the question of whether mental test scores particularly IQ scores provide an accurate assessment of a child’s or students cognitive capabilities and mental abilities. At one end of the continuum, the practice of standardized mental testing, -intellectual assessment- in schools is defended as an indispensable, nonbiased tool in the diagnosis of learning problems. At the other extreme, the same practice is condemned as a vicious social evil that has been misused and has done children and students more harm than good. We believe that it is unfortunate that, many policymakers have narrowed the currency of educational success to one main measure test scores and reduced schooling to a means of economic competitiveness, both personal, national, and international. Recently many teachers, educators, administrators, counselors, professional intellectual assessment providers have been shifted from consumer and/or learner-oriented education to organizational learning and change that captures the potential of students.

3- Traditional IQ tests only assess a particular form of intelligence and therefore are of limited value.
Many psychologists who used the traditional intelligence Tests (Binet, Wechsler, Kauffman among other tests of intelligence) have recognized the need to observe examinee behavior during testing in order to assess the quality (i.e., validity) of test scores.
