Patrick and Diane Remington met in college and soon became a couple Because of the high cost of getting a college degree, the both enlisted in the campus ROTC (Reserve Officer training Corps) which paid for their college education in exchange of a four year tour in the U.S. Air Force. They were verbally assured that they would not be ordered to engage in active combat, but the Air Force would utilize their considerable technical skills in the mission of protecting the American population against hostile forces. Further, those technical skill would be enhanced so that their future after the Air Force would certainly lead to high paying and secure employment as civilians in the tech industry.

After graduating from college they were assigned to a base outside of Las Vegas where they received intensive training in flying unmanned drones. The drones were used primarily for surveillance of terrorist forces in the Middle East. On a number of occasions those drones were used to take out terrorists who could not otherwise by attacked by conventional forces. In spite of the care that was taken not to target civilians, sometimes innocent lives were lost: Collateral damage they called it. Those tragic loses, which were abhorrent to Patrick and Diane, were nonetheless regarded as unavoidable and, it was believed, kept the terrorists from taking countless more lives were they allowed to continue inflicting pain and death on their local populations.

After their tours of duty, both of them went on to realize the promises made to them when they enlistedhigh paying and secure jobs in the tech industry. A couple of years later they got a call from their former commander who told them that their extraordinary kills were needed one more time by their country. There was a cruel and merciless dictator who had evaded every attempt by our country. He would be attending the climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland. Would they answer the call of their country to finally put an end to his bloody life?

To Shorten the story, they accepted this call to his historic and patriotic duty. They were successful. There were, of course, civilian casualties, this time Americans who were attending the climate conference. Because the Remingtons were no long acting by the order of the military, they were charged with several counts of murder and manslaughter for the deaths of those bystanders.
