3. Please be sure to include at least 3 peer reviewed contemporary peer
reviewed journal articles/citations. Primary sources only.
Theory (1-2 pg. max.) (Bystander Theory)
1. Identify and define a theory that would best answer your research question for
your crime type. Be sure to define your theory in detail, including any major
concepts.
2. Apply the theory to this crime type in a general fashion.
3. Please be sure to include at least 1 peer reviewed contemporary peer
reviewed source/ citations. Secondary sources are acceptable.
True Crime (1 pg. max.)
1. Briefly describe the crime and criminal covered within the media source/s as itrelates to your papers focus.
2. Apply the theory to this specific crime or criminal.
3. Please be sure to cite your movie and theory.

Conclusion and Evaluation (1 pg. max.)
1. Identify any strengths and weaknesses the theory has in answering your RQ.
2. Develop or borrow (citation needed) a policy or law that is designed to
address the crime type using this theory.
3. Cite where necessary.
References
1. You must have at least FOUR (4) scholarly peer reviewed journal articles
(APA).
2. List of ALL sources in APA format.
Guidelines
1. No quoting is allowed, unless providing a list for your theory, a brief definition
for your crime type, or a quote by the offender. Quoting outside of these allowances will result in point deductions.
2. Note that all sources must also be cited within your paper wherever they are
used. For example, Karmen (2010) reports that . Another example may be:
The victim wrote, I could imagine her turning on her snake-like charm
(Karmen, 1995, p. 53). Page numbers must always be included when quoting.
3. When paraphrasing you should have no more than 4 consecutive words
verbatim from the cited source; if you are quoting, use quotation marks.
4. You may use one popular media source only (i.e., the movie). All other sources
must be peer reviewed social science sources. The World Wide Web does not
exist for the purposes of this assignment. Encyclopedias and dictionaries are not
acceptable within this assignment. Wikipedia is never an acceptable source. All
sources must be included in your References section.
