You will analyze a popular text from a culture of your choice. You could interpret a song, episode of a TV show, movie, TV commercial, book, or any other widely shared performance or text. Think critically about the text and what it means to different audiences. Your analysis of the text must 1) build on ideas from the course (e.g., Tyree’s discussion of stereotypes; Hall’s decoding; Kondo’s reflections on identity), and 2) supplement course material with library research (at least 2). Please refer to the reading that I provide for you and with only 2 academic sources required -a thesis statement that summarizes the analysis in the opening paragraph -distinct main ideas (2-4) -transitions between ideas -a concluding paragraph
