Teachers who teach English to teenagers and adults in Oman find teaching reading skills very challenging. There are several reasons for this. One reason is that Omani learners are forced to learn English because college courses are mostly in English and the medium of instruction is also English. Another reason for this is also that Omani learners are not interested in reading at all. They love listening and speaking but not reading.
