4. Using the information in Foundations of Nursing Research ~Nieswiadomy, R.M. (2018) – Chapter 20 AND Template provided, each student will write a critique of the assigned quantitative research article (20% of final grade). The paper is to be in APA 7th ed. style and incorporate appropriate grammar, spelling, sentence structure and format for a scholarly paper. The paper is to be submitted on the day designated in the weekly schedule.
Quantitative Article Critique Guideline: Articles will be assigned and the critique should reflect only what is in the assigned articles. APA 7 format must be used.
Title: Does the title suggest the key phenomenon and the group/person under study?
Abstract: Is it helpful to the reader?
Authors: Are the researchers qualified to conduct this study?
Problem statement: Is the problem clearly stated? What is the authors argument for the study?
Purpose: What is the purpose of the study?
Research question: What is the research question?
Hypothesis: What is the hypothesis? Is the hypothesis easy to find? Is it directional or nondirectional?
What are the variables of interest (in the quantitative article)? What is the independent
variable ( the one that can be manipulated)? What is the dependent variable (the outcome variable)?
Are extraneous variables controlled for?
