Discussion 5 | Personality and Behavioral Assessment
Respond
Behavioral Assessment is a method known as “self-monitoring.” Download and review an example of a Self-Monitoring Worksheet [DOWNLOAD].
How much of a role does personality play in a behavioral assessment where a client is asked to self-monitor behaviors over a period of time?
Research other examples of self-monitoring worksheets aimed at assessing behavior. Share the link to the source if possible. Do not share the same source as one of your peers. Then, respond to one of the following 3 prompts:
Propose another type of behavior to be monitored in the same setting or a different one that might lend itself to a self-monitoring assessment.
What parameters might you as the clinical practitioner want to give the client doing the self-assessment to work within, such as duration, observations, methods for recording them and self-awareness prompts? Explain your thinking.
Discuss what, if any, ethical issues might be considered in using a clients self-monitoring information to either recommend further assessment or possible treatment? What could be done to assure ethical handling of such information?
