2. Describe the living and working conditions in the Hawaiian cane fields for Japanese immigrants. (CH 10)
3. What was a picture bride? How did this affect Japanese immigration? What are some of the differences between Japanese women and Chinese women? (CHs 8 and 10)
Part 2: Briefly describe the image (see attached Chinese political cartoon). Discuss whether or not you believe the artist is showing a sympathetic portrayal of the Chinese. Why or why not? Discuss how the image portrays stereotypes of Chinese immigrants. How does the image relate to what you learned in Takaki (CH 8)? Explain.
