“Getting there! Make sure to especially focus on creating a strong TS–one that contains only the main argument without including the supporting arguments. This can be as simple as “Marketers should not use [thing]” or “Misleading advertising does [thing.]” I think it would help to also specifically define what you’re going to consider “manipulation.” All advertising is technically manipulation, in that it’s trying to manipulate the consumer into acting in a way they might not normally (buy an extra product, a new one, a different brand.) Do you mean false advertising? Do you mean something that’s deceptive or misleading? You also might want to define what you consider to be “fair” advertising! You also want to consider putting some of this information in context. Do you have any research showing why this is bad? Is it more of a problem? Is there a specific kind of ethical code that you want to show they’re violating?”
