Public health is increasingly becoming a global enterprise. Think about how quickly an infectious disease can travel when international flights are so prevalent. Building healthy communities and establishing metrics supported globally has been the charge of the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO is structured in the United Nations Organization. The roles include policy development, coordination of services, data collection and standardization of measures. The WHO director has the authority to declare a public health emergency of a global concern.
