The goal of the analytic journal is to allow you to process information from the readings, discussions, and activities and to formulate these understandings in regular journal entries. Throughout the online module notes, you will see questions and comments set out in boxes featuring a prominent question mark [?].
For each of the 13 modules, write an entry (of between 50 to 250 words) consisting of:
an introductory sentence,
responses to some or all of the reflective questions raised in the module noted,
your comments about what you can take away from the module; any connections between your previous knowledge/skills and what you have learned,
and other reflections (examples below).
In some of your entries, be sure to reflect on what role a social worker would play in the legal issue/topic being discussed; the relevance of the legal issue/topic to social work practice and social work ethics; and an analysis of how diverse groups (for example: people who are Indigenous, gender/sexually diverse, Francophone, newcomer (immigrant/refugee), etc.) are impacted by the legal issue/topic. You are encouraged to include information learned in other courses (social work theories, anti-oppressive practice, social work ethics, etc.) in your reflections.
You may use creative ways to reflect on lessons from the module (e.g. reference something in the news or a helpful resource).
The nature of this assignment may differ from journal assignments in your other social work classes. The expectation is that students will demonstrate in-depth understanding of and reflections on the course material rather than reporting their personal responses to the course.

It is best to complete the analytic journal after each module. You will be required to submit throughout the semester (see deadlines above). At the end of the course, provide a brief overall
