Psychology 353 Take-home Assignments
Each assignment must be a typed, double spaced, 3.5-4 page (approximately 1200 word) report and must include a title page indicating the assignment number/letter (e.g., 2A), an informative title, your name and student number, the course number and the date. It should also include a references page and be formatted using APA style (6th or 7th edition). Assignments should incorporate relevant textbook information where applicable, and should be: Cohesive (it should be obvious to the reader how the points you make fit together); Coherent (the paper should be easy to follow; there should be a logical flow from introduction to conclusion); Accurate (provide correct information); Complete (finish arguments you have started, address issues you have brought up); Clear (make yourself understood); Concise (be brief and to the point); and Grammatically correct (spelling, sentence/paragraph structure).
Examining Popular Books on Parenting-
Briefly review two popular (non-academic) books on parenting (these can be obtained through a library or bookstore, borrowed from a friend, parent etc.). In a written report, summarize the topics presented (for example, balancing work and family, changes in the family system after the arrival of a new baby, parent education, single parenthood, divorce, parenting tweens). Is the advice presented in the books supported by research in the text? Explain.
