(1) address the role of the political context, mobilizing structures, and framing in movement emergence or resurgence in the past five years and (2) take a clear position about whether this is/was a new social movement or one that is/was continuous with an earlier one. Essays should draw on the lectures and at least two of the assigned readings from weeks 6-7, along with 2-3 journalistic or academic accounts of the case that provide reliable data/evidence about the movement.
