May suffered; poor diet, sleep and school attendance. Mother was unable to care for her children. At the age of 5, May was placed in foster care with Amy and Ben. May never felt like she was being treated the same as Amy and Bens 3 biological children. May loved her aunty (Mums sister). One weekend a month May would stay with her aunt (for a breather). May wanted to live with her aunty and uncle but they were both working full time May was forced to interact sexually with foster father at the age of 7 May’s foster father would watch her in the bathroom and make inappropriate noises. As May got older she started to realise wat her foster father was actually doing May told the foster mum about this encounter and nothing was done A case worker only checked on May once in five years.(couldve helped) Affected Mays sleep and ability to get ready for school Left the foster home at 12 and reunited with her dad (she was happy about this) Father continued to drink whilst May stayed at the pubs with him May reached out to a teacher, (no knowledge if anything was done) Trouble managing her anger and was abusive towards other people in the homes. She suffered anxiety whenever she was left alone, but struggled when people got close to her as she feared they would leave After 2 months at the unit she began to build a relationship with the staff, but rarely engaged with the other young people. She disappears for days on end and will not tell staff where she is, its likely she is with her older boyfriend. When she arrives back to the unit she often spends days sleeping and eating before she is able to actively participate in house activities and life again She is currently under a psychologist fortnightly but often misses appointments if she is not at the unit. There are moments where she engages well with unit staff She has expressed she really wants to go to school and complete VCAL so she can go onto some kind of education and get a good job. Decided that she will live with her Aunty and Uncle and she likes it there and they provide a stable home.
