You cannot develop a hypothesis until you know what has already been done and found about your topic. In this assignment, you will finalize your literature review (your background and rationale for your project) and develop and present your hypothesis.
A project idea always begins with an hypothesis. Hypotheses begin with research questions. Research questions come from knowing about the topic, as you began doing in your Exploratory Literature Review.
FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT, YOU MUST DO AND SUBMIT BOTH PART 1 AND PART 2. EACH MEMBER OF THE GROUP MUST DO THIS ASSIGNMENT ON THEIR OWN.
PART 1
Begin by finishing reading 3 more articles on your topic. One of these articles must be unique to each group member, the other 2 may be shared by the group.
You will need to find 2 more new empirical articles on your own, they must be based around false memory, younger and older participants, the retrieval process, and sleep, in addition to the one you used for the FP1 assignment and the one you are using from one of your group members.
Then answer the following questions as Part 1 of this assignment.
1. Research Questions:
What are some of the questions still not answered or unclear in your area of interest? Think of at least 3 (at least 2 should be new- not the same as ones you discussed in your Coop, but most likely come from your new articles).
2. Possible Hypotheses:
Hypotheses are testable predictions that you develop from the above information. Think of how you might test some of the ideas above. What predictions would you make about these issues? Remember that a Hypothesis is a prediction about your IV(s) and DV(s) and should be written as such. Be specific. Try to come up with at least 3.
3. Final Hypothesis
Which of the hypotheses you just developed seems to be the most important or intriguing? Which one seems the easiest to test in terms of methodology, etc.? Which one is the most unique (meaning it is not a straight replication of a previous study)? Choose one hypothesis for which you think you could devise a method for testing. You will share this with your group at the next Coop.
PART 2
Write up an APA style Introduction Power Point Slide in which you include the literature of your 4 sources (3 from this assignment and the one you used for FP 1) as bullet points (one or two sentences for each citation).
