The major project in this class will be to research a historical style or art/design movement selected from the time period covered in this class, prehistoric to Victorian, and then to write a paper on a specific topic regarding the style or movement, making a strong connection to it’s importance and relevance to the history of graphic design. In essence, you will become an expert on your style or subject matter. Objectives: – Identify and explain the relevance of important historical events – Discuss the historical value of graphic design – Identify design movements, styles, artists and designers as they relate to this course – Stimulate critical thinking and expression of thoughts Process: – Select a style – Conduct research decide on a theme/thesis for your paper – Create an outline featuring key points for this theme/thesis – Write a draft of your paper following the outline –
