Read Kafka’s “Before the Law.” It is a short story that reads more like a fable than a realistic story. People often think of fables as not real, but that isn’t a very helpful description. Most things that we read are not real, and yet they are very moving and still impart wisdom and truth. That is what a good fable does: it imparts wisdom and truth. All literature imparts wisdom and truth. However, Fables do so in a concentrated form that resembles something of a dream.
What wisdom and or truth do you see in Kafka’s story? For truth to be true, it must always be true? how does knowing that add to your idea? How and or where do you see this being relevant in your life or the world today ?
