Drawing upon both of these articles and doing outside research of your own, examine and explain how and why cultures feel the need to modernize or update stories and images of important deities. What new values, or psychological or emotional needs do these updated religious and supernatural beliefs fulfill? Why not just abandon the older deities and create new ones?
