Research your organization and describe the organization’s vision, mission and strategy. Describe the organization’s current CSR strategy based on its most recent sustainability report. Use the PESTLE framework that you learned in Strategy and Analytics to analyze the environmental factors that impact the strategy and operations of your chosen company. (No more than 1 page)
Based on your PESTLE analysis, describe a project that will demonstrate how analytics can help your company advance its corporate social responsibility strategy. A critical step in the change process is proving the value that analytics can bring. The first project should have a very clear goal and be limited in scope. It should utilize existing information, and focus on what is required to prove value in a short period of time, i.e. within a few months. It is not the implementation of a new CSR initiative. The value proposition should be clear and visible within the organization, i.e. it should be material. An important component of materiality is alignment with the vision, mission and CSR strategy of the company. Describe how your analytics proposal aligns with and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Not everyone will be supportive of your proposal so it is important to think about different internal stakeholder groups and their motivations for supporting or opposing your project. You need to gain organizational support for your project before you can implement it. What stakeholder groups would support your proposal? What stakeholder groups would oppose your proposal? Based on your understanding of the stakeholders and their motivations for supporting or opposing your project, develop tailored communication plans for each stakeholder group. Which stakeholders (or groups of stakeholders) will you communicate with? In what sequence? Describe the messages that you will use to persuade each stakeholder or stakeholder group of the importance and value of the first project. Describe how you will address both the rational and emotional concerns of the different stakeholder groups, and why you think these messages will be effective. (No more than 2 pages)
You need a sponsor for your first project. Because your project is essentially a pilot, a leader of a function is the appropriate level of sponsorship; a c-suite executive is not an appropriate sponsor for a pilot project. Who will you ask to be your sponsor, and what messages you will use to persuade this leader of the importance and value of the first project to him/her? How will you use analytics to inform your sponsor of the progress of your proof of value project?
