In the past few weeks, you have completed course readings, performed Internet searches, and reviewed scholarly literature regarding financial management processes. Through this week’s readings, you have gleaned information on financial management and the relationship of financial matters to equity of healthcare service and their effect upon our healthcare system.
Great inequity continues to occur in areas of access and cost of services. Studies continue to reveal poor education, socioeconomic status, economic concerns, cost of services, and ethnic/cultural origin as major causes of inequity and disparity. Other factors related to the dilemma described are the closure and mergers of hospitals and healthcare agencies.
Create an outline of your opinions on the topic of financial management and equity of care for oral presentation to your course professor.
Consider the following for inclusion in developing the outline:
1.Explain the factors that predispose health disparities.
2.Share what you as a nurse executive may accomplish to decrease the inequities that may be related to financial management issues.
3.Share examples of the effect financial inequity has on healthcare outcomes (e.g., environment, gender, generations, culture, values, etc.) in your community.
