Some possible areas are poverty, school retention, homelessness, affordable housing, access to health care, racism, pollution of air/drinking water, bullying, reproductive rights, substance abuse, vaccines, gun control/violence. You are not limited to these areas. You will need to submit a project approval form before proceeding. Your paper will need to include the following: Identified Social Issue Population(s) affected by the issue (Race, Gender, Age…..) Literature review of programs addressing the social justice issue/population The literature review will consist of a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed journals published within the last 10 years. (Review Course Resources for guidance on doing a literature review) In addition to the journals, you can utilize professional websites to augment your information. For example, if you need statistics on the number of people living in poverty you can utilize the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), MedlinePlus (National Library of Medicine), and the US Census Bureau as well as any relevant State Data. Do not use general public sources such as Dictionary, Wikipedia – there are enough professional resources out there to use Focus on the specifics For example, if you are choosing poverty, you might focus on specific contributors (loss of jobs, lower-paying versus higher-paying jobs, lack of education/skills, limited employment….) Are there existing services that attempt to address the area you have chosen (Not just limited to your area – this is a larger question) If there is a service(s) that accomplishes what you are setting out to do you can utilize that as part of your project (make sure to document that).
