Correct MLA format THIRD person point of view ** Below are some points I gathered** Nicholas Carr′s article, ″How Smartphones Hijack Our Minds.″ This article sparked a widespread debate when it was first published as part of Carr′s book, The Shallows. The discussion about this continues today. What do you think about technology′s role in the modern world, specifically the Internet? What are some benefits of using this technology and what are some drawbacks? What is your experience with the Internet and do you agree or disagree with Carr′s claim? My opinion on the role of technology, specifically the internet in the modern world is that it affects how things are done on a daily basis. As well as how we communicate. For example, nowadays if need the answer to something we use the internet to figure it out. We don′t use any of our own thinking to figure it out because we are so used to the internet having the answer to almost everything. But if we think about it before the internet was invented people would use their own knowledge and do their own research to figure things out. When it comes to communication we now have social media platforms to interact with anyone around the world. People could be right in front of each other and instead of speaking to them directly they text them, snap them, DM them, etc. I would say that the internet should be used less unless we really can′t figure things out on our own. Some benefits of using the internet are that you literally have all the answers at your fingertips. Almost every device that we own can access the internet making it easy for us to have access to it whenever. When it comes to having to communicate with someone who lives in another country, the internet is very helpful to stay in touch with them. The internet is also very helpful when you have questions that you may need a quick answer to whether it is to look up a phone number from a place to figuring out conversions for a recipe. The internet can be helpful to some extent. The drawback to the internet is that it is not a forever thing. We could lose connection anytime and if we are super used to only relying on it on a daily basis then we are in a mess. But the internet has affected the way we communicate and how we go about our day. Individuals rely on it so much as if there are no other ways to figure things out.
